UP Basic Teacher Pay Scale / Pay Band-
Pay Band or Pay Scale was more used in the 6th Pay Commission. At present, the government basic teacher in Uttar Pradesh is getting 7th pay scale. Pay Scale is 9300 – 34800 i.e. UP Basic Teacher Pay Scale is 9300- 34800 ₹. Along with this, UP Junior Teacher Pay Scale is also 9300- 34800 ₹.
Grade Pay of Primary Teacher & Junior Teacher in UP-
The grade pay of an assistant teacher working at the primary level is ₹ 4200. Whereas the grade pay of an assistant teacher appointed in upper primary i.e. junior level (class 6-8) is 4600 ₹.
Salary Level in 7th Pay Commission-
The salary level of assistant teacher working at the primary level is 6 in the seventh pay matrix. Whereas the level of assistant teacher appointed in upper primary i.e. junior level (class 6-8) is 7 in the seventh pay matrix.
Basic Pay-
The basic salary of an assistant teacher working at the primary level (class 1 to 5) starts from ₹ 35400 and that of an assistant teacher appointed in the upper primary i.e. junior level (classes 6-8) starts from ₹ 44900.
Once every year in January or July, the basic pay in the form of increments increases to a higher level as in the table below, which is about 3%. In this table it has been converted to an almost perfect multiplier. Taking increment in January or July depends on the desire of the teacher. For getting the first increment, it is necessary to complete 6 months of service.
House Rent Allowance –
According to the classification of the city of your working school, the teacher gets a residential allowance. All the cities are divided into three level A, B, C category, which are 4040, 2020, 1340 at the primary level (class 1 to 5) and 5540, 2760, 1840 is received respectively at the junior level (class 6-8).
NPS (National Pension Scheme) -
After 1 April 2004, 10% of the salary of the employees appointed is deducted and 14% is deposited by the government in the National Pension Scheme. Which will be given to you as pension at the time of retirement. This is a stock-market based scheme, there is no assured return on it. Therefore, it is being strongly opposed by the employees.
GIS (Group Insurance Scheme) -
In this group life insurance scheme, ₹ 87 is deducted per month, there was a provision of some amount of money to employee`s family at the time of death during service. But now this scheme is no longer in LIC. Still, this money is being deducted at present and no one knows where it goes.

Promotion -
Promotion in schools under the Basic Education Council of Uttar Pradesh is for name only. From the primary level assistant teacher, you are promoted to the primary level head master or upper primary assistant teacher. After this you can become the head master of the junior school and this is the highest peak of your promotion.
On promotion, you do not go directly to junior's salary from the primary level salary. Rather only one increment is given.
Selection Grade-
If you complete 10 years of service without any penalty and you do not get any promotion during this period, then you get an additional increment in the form of selection pay scale.
Retirement-
You can serve in the department till 62 years. If you get any state or national level award during your service, then two years increase in retirement i.e. 64 years.
